Your Skellig Coast Angling Experience

Welcome to Murphy’s Atlantic Angling & Valentia Harbour trips owned and run by Ciaran Murphy. We are based in Knightstown in Valentia Island. The waters of Valentia Harbour and the Skellig Coast form one of the deepest natural harbours around Ireland and offer the freshest Atlantic catch. Ciaran can recommend the best fishing grounds given the weather and sea conditions and the catch in season. The Skellig Coast waters are home to a variety of species, rough ground, banks and sand. On an average days fishing, depths are usually between 30 and 70 metres. Most days drift fishing will produce mackerel, codling, pollock, coley, ling and wrasse. Ground fishing will mostly produce conger, ling, pouting and bull huss.

Shorter trips for mackerel fishing, groups or even families for those who may want to only experience a boat trip within the harbour are available. We also offer short harbour trips, to take in the stunning scenery which Valentia and our surrounding Skellig Coast of the Wild Atlantic Way have to offer.

Our Boat Boy Scott is a 32ft purpose built angling boat. It is powered by a 250hp Ford Mermaid. She is fully licenced by the department of Marine for 10 people and is fitted with all modern safety and navigational equipment.

Valentia Island

We are based at Knightstown Marina on Valentia Island, the hidden gem of the Ring of Kerry and the Wild Atlantic Way. We are surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery that has inspired generations of artists, poets, musicians as well as being the birthplace of the global communications revolution in the Industrial Age. From the Tetrapod Trackway, the Lighthouse, Bray Head, the Heritage Centre as well as walking, cycling, sailing and pier jumping, there is plenty to explore and do on the island - we recommend you check out http://valentiaisland.ie before your visit or pop in to the Tourist Office in the village to find the best activities, accommodation and places to eat on the Skellig Coast.
